is a member of the Society of the Army of the Cumberland
instituted by the officers and soldiers of said Army at Cin-
cinnati, Ohio on the 6th day of February A.D. 1868 for the
purpose of commemorating it fortunes and achievements
and preserving that loyal sentiment and that kind and
cordial feeling which have been its eminent characteristics
and for the further purpose of uniting in bonds of perpetual
friendship the members their of~July 6th, 1876
