Genl. Sheridan's Cavalry Charging and Routing Rebel Horsemen~

The Battle of Opequan Creek was commenced by Genl. Sheridan,
attacking the enemy under Genl. Early at daylight, and lasting
until 5P.M. when the Rebels were completely routed, and fled
from the field; with a loss of five general officers, and over 5000
officers and men killed and wounded, and leaving in the hands
of our brave Union boys, 5000 prisoners, five guns, and Fifteen
Battle Flags, as trophies of their well earned victory.
