Maj.Gen.Philip H. Sheridan on his Personal Mourning
Stationary...the P H & S Intertwined together~ 
Because the stationary is so thin the ink has bled through
and makes it somewhat difficult to read...yet, the Bold
Signature is easily seen...Signed Maj.Gen. would indicate
it was written prior to his March 4, 1869 Promotion to
Lieutenant General.

Letter Reads in Part~

While you....Custer will soon go, but fear not for so
interesting a consideration. Miss Mills gets Moma
soon two other young ladies who knew him temporarily
have gone. Mr. Mckeaner is.....................I had intended
to start for New Mexico on last Monday, but found I was
made a Member of a Board to Audit Indian Claims.......
Mike & Gen'l Forsyth will go.
