Library. - - - Ninian Pinkney was born in Annapolis, Maryland on 7 June 1811,
graduated from St. John's College, Annapolis, Maryland, in 1829, and from
Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1833. He worked
throughout his naval career in the Navy in the field of surgery and medicine,
and was well recognized during the Civil War.
