Colonial Williamsburg Folk Art Painting. (Circa
1964-65). Titled: “Scene Y(ea)r 1765. Fast Dash Down Duke of Gloucester St(reet).” (Lower left). Signed
lower right: “Glenn Canedo, 1964-65” 20-1/8 x 24-18 inches.
Unframed in stretcher (as intended). On the top edge of the top canvas is
imprinted in the artist hand in manuscript: “The central figures are riding in
a type of cart widely used in North Eastern States during this colonial
Period.” On the reverse side, on the stretcher is written: “Media – Oil on Linen / Price $750.00” on the left; in the center: “An Original” & and on the right: “Artist Add(ress)/2315 Williamsburg Road/Richmond, Va./Phone 648-6098.” Very good condition.
