- - - In Part: “..you must bleed..; …never use mercury in
cases of enlargement of the spleen, never salivate your patient unless you want
to kill him; bloodletting tells more…; bleed again; opium; low diet; keeping
his gums tender with mercury; bleed freely; topical bleeding; leeches &
blisters is useful; Gen. Washington case;
he makes signs that he wants air and if he does not obtain relief he perishes,
he dies strangulated; not leeches to the neck; a few leeches to an infant in
its first year; if the ovary enlarges very fast you must bleed; prune juice;
tubercular matter; riding horseback is strongly recommended; the stethoscope is the best mode to detect
disease of the heart; cranium; …”
