Smith’s narrative is based on his eyewitness
observations during his stay in the colony from 1606-1609, and his exploration
of the New England coast 1610-1617. It includes substantially all of his
previous works on America, together with abstracts of other writers. One of the
most famous of the early histories relating to the new discoveries in America.
