Getting Started with Guitar Building Wood Laminating DVD

A 40 minute  DVD.

Applicable to both steel string and classical acoustic guitars, it provides a comprehensive and step-by-step overview of how laminate three layers of wood to build durable and beautiful laminated sides and backs for any type of guitar. The various hand tools, special tools and power tools that are used during the process are discussed and demonstrated in detail.  Instructed by Michael Collins, a noted Gypsy Jazz guitar builder, he covers the entire process including:

1. Wood selection

2. Using forms

3. Vacuum bag operation.

4. Preparing layers prior to gluing

5. Mixing the glue

5. Complete glue up instructions

6. Vacuum drawdown over the forms

7. Curing

8. Using an air compressor as a vacuum source.

Great for making arched backs and cutaway sides, the process is simple and within the ability of most novice guitar builders.
