Locating and sawing the fret slots

Applicable to both steel string and classical acoustic guitars, it provides a comprehensive and step-by-step overview of how to locate, mark, saw and use of the various fixtures for making slots for installing frets. The various hand tools, fixtures, special tools and power tools that are used during the process are discussed and shown. This video also covers the Tangent Line method of locating and marking fret slots. Presented by luthier Jamie Boss, the presentation was filmed at his Connecticut guitar building school. It is part of a continuing series produced by Jamie on the art of acoustic guitar building. After viewing the video the beginning luthier will have specific knowledge of how to locate the fret positions, use a guitar scale ruler, check the fretboard for squareness, saw fret slots using a miter box, use a miter box fret locating jig and calculate fret positions using the tangent line method.
