Lotus guitars, for a time, were well-known in the 70s, 80s and into the early 90s, when production finally ceased for good. I've had this one since the mid-90s, when it came into my hands from a friend who decided that he just didn't want to put in the time necessary to become minimally competent at electric guitar. It's a Lotus 'L' model, though it's unusual in that it's not the classic Stratocaster style guitar that Lotus was well-known for, when it came to copying guitars made by other companies. This one, though the body is 'S' style, is a sharper, more forward-looking Strat style and more in line with what Ibanez 'S' style guitars appear to be, at least in terms of the body and the components. It comes in humbucker, single coil, single coil (those two are screwed directly into the body, to aid in sustain) configuration and it also has a Floyd Rose-licensed locking (at the nut) tremolo system. I still have the whammy bar, which is usually the first thing I chuck on one of these, prior to making it a hardtail. There are even fine tuners on the tremolo bridge.

This guitar weighs in at about 9 pounds, and it's been fairly indestructible, from what I understand from checking out various Lotus guitar BBs and other sites. The body itself looks to be alder or some other heavy wood, maybe. There's a small nick or ding down to the southeastern right of the 5-way selector switch and one at the dip between the upper bout and the back edge of the body, but that's about it. Buckle rash is practically nonexistent and it's in exceptional shape for its age (near as I can date it, it came out sometime in the late-80s to early-90s) Features include:

- Carved 'S' style body (Stratocaster yes, but more along the lines of what an Ibanez idea of a Strat should be)
- Bolt-on maple neck, also like Ibanez bolts on their necks (4-point and directly into the body, no neckplate needed, also to help aid in sustain)
- Rosewood fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and pearl dot inlays
- 3x3 Lotus proprietary headstock with Gotoh-style tuners (this one's obviously post-lawsuit, because it definitely doesn't resemble the Fender headstocks of the lawsuit era)
- Floyd Rose licensed tremolo/bridge system, with a locking nut that sits just above the normal nut (that's also unusual and means this was a higher-quality model). It also has the truss rod cover at the top, which is extremely rare from a so-called 'budget' guitar maker of the era being discussed (it would have been cheaper and easier to locate it down at the base of the neck)
- 5-way selector switch (cheaper Lotuses tended to come with just a 3-way switch)
- 1 volume, 1 tone control knob

Here's what I've done to make sure the guitar is ready for another's use:

- Put in new machine head button spacers
- Installed new locking nut pads
- Installed new locking nut screws (all 3)
- New strings
- Put in a new backplate screw/washer assembly, where the guitar bolts onto the body
- Shined and dressed the frets
- Cleaned and oiled the fingerboard (Kyser Klassics "Dr. Stringfellow" Lem-Oil Fret Board Conditioner)
- Set it up for super-low action and intonation

Right now, this thing will blow the doors off any Fender Squier Affinity or Bullet Strat or pretty much any of those 80s Kramer Strikers OR any number of other so-called "shredder specials" that are so en vogue again (I have an '87 Kramer Striker 300ST, so I know about those guitars). Plug this one in, turn up the gain on the amplifier and watch it run! Pinch harmonics are off the wall and it sustains for days. It'll make a fine addition to any budding shredder's arsenal, I think.

Shipping worldwide.  Local pickup is also offered.  All state and local taxes are the responsibility of the winning bidder.  All customs and duties, as well, are the responsibility of any winning international bidder that emerges.  Check the shipping calculator for more precise shipping charges.  International shipping could become quite expensive, so be warned.  Also, this guitar is sold "AS IS," and no returns can be accepted.  It's a quality, well-playing instrument, though, especially after its recent checkup.
