Fantastic Diamond Cake Stand / Platter from
O'Hara Glass Company
aka US Glass
Dated approximately 1891 this is a great example of Early American Pressed Glass. First the dimensions:
Inner Diameter: 8 3/4"
Outer Diameter: 9 3/8"
Height: 6 3/8"
A double sawtooth top rim with upper and lower "teeth". The upper rim is intended to keep flavoring, liquids and sauces from dripping over the edge on to your table. Measures 1" total height with 1/2" creating the top rim and 1/2" creating the downward rim.
The Center diamond pattern is robust and sharp. Almost looks like cubes with alternating stars on the points. Completes a series of 3 circles, pressed into the underside of the plate.
The Rum Well is 2 1/2" Diameter x 1/2" Deep
The base is 4 3/4" diameter with elongated diamonds that start narrow from the top and widen at the bottom ending the circular base with a sawtooth rim.
A couple flea bites noted & 2 flakes on underside of top rim. All the important surfaces are in very nice shape.
Couple straw marks and very, very, very light utensil marks.
