A REPRODUCTION OF Robert Lebron in 1982 depicting- A fishing village with several buildings shown.A rustic white wooden house,a large stone house, another white wooden house, a charming white church with a slender steeple, a red house and a quaint white light house. The village seems to welcome visitors. These houses front a waterway with a road separating them from the water. The roadway is perhaps 6 feet above the surface of the water and has a stone wall retaining it. There is a boat upside down with a fisherman perhaps telling tales of the sea to a little boy. The water has a fishing boat with its sails tied down and a man checking it out. The rightside has an anchored black hulled sailing vessel. A white stripe representing a wave between the waterline and the hull. The frame is brown, about 2 1/2 inches wide. The frame is 17 1/2 tall by 20 inches wide. The matting is about 2 inches wide, sort of a taupe with a mauve strip.
About the artist- Robert Lebron's fascination for art is evident in each image he creates. With each stroke of the palette knife, Lebron paints from the depth of his imagination, to his heart and soul. At an early age, Lebron discovered his passion for art. After moving from New York City to Puerto Rico at age two, he spent his early years with his fisherman cousin who often told him the perils of the sea. Inspired by these tales, Lebron and his cousin would illustrate these stories on old paper bags. From boats to battlefields, they discovered the magic of art. He returned to New York in the 1930s and it didn't take long for Lebron's teachers to discover his abilities. He won admission to New York's prestigious high school for art and music, The Art Student's League. After serving in the United States Air Force, he attended art college and then launched his career as an artist. His original oils are an important part of public, corporate and private collections. His paintings continue to reflect his favorite theatrical and literary heroes. Many of the details in his paintings feature favorite characters from his childhood including a tiny dog (present in each painting) inspired by the comic strip, DICKIE DARE.
