It will not indicate every instance of a wheel end component malfunction, it will indicate excess temperature for prolonged periods that could cause decrease function or failure of wheel end components. CSA 2010 reminds drivers to complete pre and post inspections. These inspections also provide the driver with an opportunity to visually inspect the conditions of the "real wheel check indicator label" positioned between the wheel studs on the vehicle.See user instructions for installation and inspection. INSPECTION INSTRUCTIONS: This label is designed to help drivers, maintenance personnel,and safety inspectors  deal with improve vehicle safety in line with CSA 2010. To check for abnormal wheel end,bearing and brake component temperatures visually inspect the broken arrow of each label during daily visual walk-around inspections. INSPECTION CRITERIA: Vehicle is equipped with a heat sensitive label on each of the outer wheel rims. Broken Arrow : Starts out white at ( ambient ), will irreversibly turn orange when wheel rim temperature exceeds 250 F. Caution : If a driver identifies a color change to orange of the broken arrow for any wheel, please call dispatcher for advice. The color change of the label indicated may not be an out of service condition, however it is a preemptive means to assist maintenance in finding the source of excessive heat before a wheel end component failure or inspection violation. USER INSTRUCTIONS: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: The wheel check Indicator label has an adhesive backing. One Should be applied to a clean surface on each of the vehicle's outward facing wheel rims, Position the label with the broken arrow pointing from one wheel nut to the next facing the front of the vehicle in a visually unobstructed view. CAUTION: If wheel rim temperature is below 40F apply label at least 4 hours before operating vehicle to ensure proper adhesion .
