This cord will connect an AC adapter to an AC outlet, OR it will plug directly into a laptop or other device with a built-in AC adapter.  The models listed below may just have this plug in directly to your laptop or to the adapter that connects to your laptop, Usually to the adapter.

The best way to tell if this is the cord you need is to look closely at the picture above, and see if it looks like the cord's end would fit into the power receptacle on your device or on your device's external power adapter. This cord will work with many external adapters for Apple/Macintosh laptops and notebooks. This cord is also compatible with many other laptop and notebook and printer made by Compaq, Dell, and TOSHIBA, IBM, NEC, Sony, Gateway, HP, AST, and Hitachi. A complete compatibility list is below.

APPLE/MACINTOSH
Macintosh laptop adapters (rectangular, and round) requiring a two conductor line/wall cord use this cord. Original Ibooks; Powerbook g3 1400, 2300, 2400, 3400, i1400 (m4895 & m4896 adapter, but not if optional m5159 adapter is being used); I-pods; Ibook late 2001, iBook 14.1 LCD, Powerbook g4 gigabite Ethernet, Powerbook g4 DVI (using the m8743 labeled the 'Apple Portable Power Adapter'); Wallstreet and Lombardo models; and any model using the recalled adapter (m4409).Note: Some Powerbook adapters, like model 5159 and some of the yo=yo adapters, require a three prong cord that I sell in other ebay auctions.

TOSHIBA NOTEBOOKS: Satellite Series (all); Satellite Pro Series (all); Libretto Series (all); Portege Series (all); Tecra series (all) T Series (all); & the TE Series (all)

SONY: Vaio F Series; Vaio FX Series; Vaio FXA Series; Vaio GR Series; Vaio GRX Series; Vaio C1 Series Picturebooks; Vaio NV Series; Vaio SR Series; Vaio SRX Series; Vaio 505 Super Slim Pro Notebooks; Vaio N505 Series; Vaio Z505 Series; Vaio VX Series; and the Vaio XG Series.

DELL: Inspiron 3000, 3200, 3500, and 7000 Series; & Latitude CP-st, CP-xt, LM, LX, LXP, XP, XPI-cd, XPI-ccd mmx. Note: Many Dell adapters require a different three prong cord. If you have an Inspiron or Latitude that requires the three prong cord,  this will not work.

IBM: This cord is compatible with the external adapters for some, but not all Thinkpad models. According to IBM, With very few exceptions, IBM laptops and Notebooks can be used with different adapters (some are OEM adapters and some are FRU units (IBM's replacement adapter). All OEM and FRU IBM adapters require either the two or three conductor line cord. If your IBM adapter requires a 2 conductor cord then the cord in the auction is the one you need. The 2 conductor cord is most commonly used with the adapters for the 755, 760, 765, T, X, & A Series Notebooks and laptops.  Note: Many IBM adapters require a three prong cord. If you have a Thinkpad that requires the three prong cord,  then this will not work.

COMPAQ: All Presario adapters use this cord, as well as the lte 5000, Contura, and Concerto series laptops. Note: Adapters for All Armada and Prosignia, and EVO Notebooks require a 3 conductor cord therefore this will not work.

NEC: All NEC laptop and notebook adapters use the two conductor cord being sold in this auction including All VERSA models.

HEWLETT PACKARD: this cord is compatible with all adapters for HP Omnibook & Pavilion Notebooks, and Deskjet & Photosmart Printer models that use a two conductor cord to connect the power adapter to a wall outlet.

GATEWAY : Liberty, Solo, and Profile models that require a two conductor, figure 8 style line cord, use this cord.

AST: 910, 950, M, J, & A Series units requiring a two conductor line cord, use this cord.

HITACHI: The adapters for some Visionpro laptops require this two conductor cord.

ACER: The adapters for some ACER laptop adapters require the two conductor cord sold in this auction.
