Hong Kong Pink Guava

Guavas are seen growing wild almost everywhere on the windward side of our islands. Guava trees are established as wild flora all along many Hawaii roadsides.

Guava are small trees or shrubs with leathery leaves and a bark that peels easily from the branches. They are native to tropical America. The fruits are round, ripening from green to yellow or red. They are very acidic and are full of hard round seeds. This tree, 20-40ft, has very attractive bark with a smooth satiny sheen and variegated shades of reddish-brown, blondes and grays.

This yellow skinned fruit has an excellent familiar flavor, tasting of the island flavor known and loved world wide. Fruits are small, to 3-5" around. The very juicy pulp is translucent and tastes pleasantly spicy.

Guava trees do well on the beach areas. It is probably the easiest of the truly 'tropical' fruit trees and are very fast growing. Not fussy on the soil quality, Guava produces fruit year after year. If you have only one subtropical fruit, Tropical Guava should be it.

Guava bears fruit after 2 years growth. The fruit is very aromatic and may be eaten fresh or made into a juice or paste for later use. Upon ripening, the guava becomes soft and juicy, then may be eaten fresh, made into a juice or nectar contain fruit pulp, or made into preserves, jam, jelly, or paste.

Guava is an excellent source of C vitamin.

Combined Discounts Won Auctions

For 2-3 winning auctions, the combined discount is 10% of the total Shipping and Handling charges.          As each order is packed and prepared separately you will pay the quoted S/H charges individually per item. If you buy the same species in that item it does calculate out the discount (i.e.: additional item $3.61). My stores' combined shipping is built in for same items rather than a varied selection. Includes postage, USDA certification and inspection, proper packing and delivery to Airport for prompt delivery. I can’t really change any of these. If you want one of this and one of that, it gets hard to discount much as each different species requires it's own prep & packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, a day to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand.
