BASARA: The Princess Goh (1992) - REMASTERED
Price:  $12.99
Description:
Go-hime - A sequel to Rikyu, concerned with the period immediately following the death of Rikyu and the power struggle amongst Lords loyal to him and others aligned with Hideyoshi.
Princess Goh, a vivacious tomboy and the adopted daughter of Toyotomi Hideyoshi develops a strong friendship with Furuta Oribe (Tatsuya Nakadai) the gifted and flamboyant successor to Rikyu. When the brash young Goh learns that Samurai seeking to gain favor from Hideyoshi have publicly displayed Rikyu's head, she and Oribe's gardener Usu, retrieve the head and place it at Rikyu's gravesite. Fearing that this act may implicate his master, Usu decides to flee the city.
Twenty years later, the three are able to meet once again but in very different circumstances. Oribe is now the tea master for Hideyoshi's rival, Tokugawa Ieyasu; Usu is a lonely mountain man, and the princess is living with her birth family and Hideyoshi ally, the Maeda Clan. As things look increasingly bleak for her family -- Ieyasu has exiled her husband -- the Princess has Oribe lead the spring tea ceremony at the Maedas, a nudge to the ribs of authority.
Costumes and sets are among the most gorgeous color compositions in a Japanese film since Kinugasa's Gate of Hell, essential viewing for anyone that enjoyed 'Rikyu'.
