Description:

A-ge-man - Nominated for 4 Japanese Academy Awards - about a geisha who brings good luck to the men with whom she sleeps, it satirizes corruption and the influence of money in Japanese politics.

Nayoko is an "a-ge-man" or "Golden Geisha," one whose mere presence confers success on whoever holds her contract. Over the years a number of men have bid for or sold her contract, thus Nayoko's situation brings her into contact with some of the most powerful men in Japan, and from them she learns and observes much of the world of power politics.

Through happenstance she becomes involved with Suzuki Mondo an up and coming bank VP whose marriage to the bank president's granddaughter is slowly going stale. When Nayoko learns that Mondo will soon become an unfortunate pawn in a political power struggle between much larger players, her love, skill and resources are put to the ultimate test.

In the end it will be determined whether or not Nayoko is truly an A-ge-man when the life of Mondo is on the brink of destruction.
