Description:

Taiyo no hakaba – Portrait of gang life in a Japan rarely shown at any time to the general public. Set in the post-war slums of Osaka it follows the lives and fates of the denizens of this hellish ghetto.

The epidemic of juvenile delinquency in the mean streets of Osaka is depicted in this sordid story of sex and violence. The group is dwindled by suicide, murder, gang warfare and accidents as they engage in arson and gunplay. Plagued by drug and alcohol problems, the members of the gang head down the dead-end street to oblivion, despair and certain death.

It's a pitiless and dispassionate portrait of a living hell that lurks behind the facade of a prosperous new Japan, a place where everything - food, sex, even blood - is simply a commodity to be stolen and sold.
