Namonaki Koi no Uta - General Ijiri of Kasuga is a fierce Samurai Warrior whose bravery on the battlefield has earned him the title of "demon". In matters of love, however, he can neither advance nor retreat. Ijiri and Princess Ren have been in love since their youth, but they are held back by class differences.

To protect her clan, Ren acquiesces to marrying the powerful Warlord Okurai of Kitiganto - until an accidental visitor from the future changes her mind. Enraged by her betrayal, Okurai wages war against Kasuga.

The story is presented through the eyes of a mischievous young boy who time travels back to the Warring States era, and the special effects are integrated organically into Ballad to re-envision Sengoku era Japan and to create the film's impressive war scenes.
