Since each episode is reduced to 45 minutes, you get to the climatic fight a lot sooner, and since the plot has to be simplified to accommodate less characters, the films are easier to follow.

Ichi is mistaken by the police as Ryumontoku, the notorious criminal who disguises himself as a monk. Angry Ichi faces the real Ryumontoku at last. Ichi's sword swings against the criminal who will do anything in order to get what he wants.
Episode 19. THE GIFT OF THE LETTER “EYE'”
She is only 16 years old and has 4 kids, and Ichi feels a great respect toward this girl who sacrifices herself in order to raise her little children. In order to make money, she has to sell herself. Ichi's sword stops the criminals who want to drag her into the darkness.
