This is one A GRADE Pacific Megalodon tooth from the south pacific ocean. This tooth has been polished to a Mirror like finish .
This tooth is approx, 12 million years old. The shark that the tooth belonged to (MEGALODON) grew to lengths of up to 60 ft .
These Unique colored teeth come from the South Pacific Ocean 800 miles east of Austrailia and a 3 day boat ride north of a small Island called New Caledonia. They are dredged from a 1000 ft down using a scoop 2 meters wide .The boat used for this operation the TUI 2 made passes with in a 3 mile stretch . The scoop is dragged for 30 min . Then it takes approximately 30 min to winch the scoop back up from 1000 ft to the boat's deck. They did approximately 5 passes in a day. They would catch approximately 15 -140 teeth at pass.
THESE SHARKS ARE NOT MAKING ANY MORE and French government is not offering any more permits for this location to protect the reef. The availibility of these teeth is slowly getting scarce.

The megalodon shark lived in the miocene/ pliocene era approximately 12 million years ago. Megalodon grew up to 60 feet long and had a deadly arsenal of 147 razor sharp teeth. There have been teeth found that exceed 7" long ! The formula for figuring length of the shark is done by the primary tooth measurements . Standard Measurements are taken from thetip to the longest root side. For every eighth of an inch equals 1 foot in length. There fore a 7" tooth would be 56' long. The megalodon fed on whales squid,large fish and anything that moved. The power of its jaws was incredible. They could slash through vertabrae and rib bones with ease. They could even slice through their own teeth !
