Specifications: diameter - 27.50 mm, thickness - 2.35 mm, weight - 10.10 g.
The central part (a core) of the coin is made from gold yellow colour alloy of copper, aluminium and nickel. The outside part (a ring) of the coin is made from white colour alloy of copper and nickel.
The edge of the coin has an inscription PENKI LITAI repeated twice. The two inscriptions are detached by a parting mark.
The obverse of the coin carries an image of the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania - Vytis - in the centre. A year of issue - is positioned under it symmetrically to the vertical axis of the coin. Above the Coat of Arms an inscription LIETUVA runs in the form of a semi-circle.
The reverse shows the number 5, positioned in the centre of the coin symmetrically to its vertical axis, and the inscription LITAI below. The ornament, formed from three evenly spaced groups of curved bars, is placed on the outside circle (the ring). The coin has a rim, the inner side of which is plain.

The reverse of the coins was designed by Antanas Zukauskas.
The coin was minted at the state enterprise Lithuanian Mint.
