Amptweaker Blues Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal Boutique Limited Edition BluesFuzz

Description:
The idea for the BluesFuzz came from a NAMM tweak session to finalize the TightFuzz. We had some lower output germanium transistors that sounded great for blues, but players preferred the higher gain one by a slim margin. This year we decided to offer a small limited run using these lower output germaniums, and the BluesFuzz was born.
Why limited edition of 49? Although surrounded with controversy, some bluesmen believe that the famous crossroads where Robert Johnson supposedly dealt with the devil was Highway 49 & 61 in Clarksdale Mississippi. What they DON'T know is that Amptweaker's James and Phyllis Brown both grew up along highway 49 (further south below Jackson) and even first met in a truckstop poolroom on highway 49. You can't grow up in Mississippi without being influenced by the blues, which is evident in James' playing, so this is a fun tip of the hat to our own personal connection with the blues.
This very cool pedal excels in getting lower gain tones easily, with an Auto Bias that adjusts appropriately with the Fuzz control, to go from very clean to fairly distorted with only one control. The Bright switch also helps tailer the top end from a warmer tone to added bite.
Inside the battery door, we added our popular Boost MOD switch, which was developed for the BluesFuzz. The switch adds about 10 dB of additional clean boost to the front end of the BluesFuzz, so you can get more fuzz or help compensate for low output vintage pickups.
While most vintage fuzz boxes have very few controls, the BluesFuzz includes a Tone control to tame the fuzzy edges and the Tight control, a mainstay of Amptweaker pedals, which varies the pick attack from smooth and thick to tight and aggressive. This is particularly helpful for tweaking a fuzz tone, since many tend to be too flubby on the lowend.
One of the important differences between the BluesFuzz and most 'reissue' fuzz boxes is that with the addition of the Tight control in front of the fuzz circuit, the input of the fuzz circuit is effectively buffered from the guitar....but in a compensated way. A common problem with the original fuzz designs is that circuits with low output impedances like those in overdrive pedals and wah pedals, or the output of active pickups, can completely change the bias and gain structure. The result is often an odd sound or squeals, unusual feedback etc. The buffering in the BluesFuzz simulates the impedance of a guitar, so that the fuzz circuit works in the normal way it's intended, and any low impedance circuit CAN be used in the loop or in front of the pedal.
Standard Amptweaker features include an effects loop with Pre/Post switch to add delay or combine other distortion and EQs to further tweak your tone. Other features include the LED illumination of controls, Battery On/Off switch, and magnetic battery access door
