This mug contains the likeness of Hubert H. Humphrey and the following text “The First Hubert H. Humphrey Dinner, April 8^th, 1978, St. Paul Civic Center, St. Paul, Minnesota”. The cup is shiny on the inside and out without stains. The likeness of HHH is still good. However, a portion of the last two lines of text have worn away somewhat (see 2^nd photo). There are also some cracks in the glaze and some small scratches which can be seen when positioned near a light source.

Senator (at the time) Humphrey passed away in January 1978. Muriel Humphrey, Hubert’s wife, was appointed to fill his vacant Senate seat. On April 8, 1978, there was a dinner in St. Paul honoring the late Hubert Humphrey. At that dinner, Muriel Humphrey announced that she would not run for election.
