F.A.Q.

In what condition are your steering wheels?

Most of the steering wheels I sell are used, most of them are no longer made and are very unlikely to be available as brand new. All my wheels have been reconditioned (leather was cleaned, softened and re-died if necessary) however they remained used wheels and as such might still have minor blemishes, any flaws in excess of light scratches or light wear will be mentioned in the description. Sometime, I offer brand new, “old stock” steering wheels, they were never used nor mounted, this will be mentioned in the description.

Is this wheel brand NEW from the factory?

If I offer a steering wheel as brand New, it is indeed brand new from the factory (old stock, if it is no longer made) and not a used wheel that's been recovered, which the later would be mentioned in the description. Beware of steering wheels that are sold as new when in fact they are used steering wheels that have been recovered with often lesser quality materials and/or using poor craftsmanship. Few leather specialists are capable of achieving the same quality as the original factory steering wheel, and if they can, it will usually cost as much as a brand new wheel direct from the manufacturer. After all, quality steering wheels can last decades without falling apart, can you say the same of your freshly recovered wheel?

I’m looking for a steering wheel in particular but I don’t see it on your website!

If I don’t offer a steering wheel you’re looking for and it falls within my criteria for what I would normally offer, please send me your request, I will attempt to locate one for you and may even add it to my inventory in the future.

I really like this wheel, but it shows as sold out!

Some of the wheels I sell are relatively rare. Because most of them are not longer made, they are in limited supply and unlike new wheels available directly from the manufacturer, can be hard to come by. This is why you shouldn’t wait too long to make your purchase, I may not be able to offer another wheel like it for a while once it’s sold out. Also a lot of wheels may show as "out of stock" as I no longer stock them because of the low demand for them, but if you let me know, I can likely get you one.

What are your “criteria” for the wheels you offer?

One of my criteria is that I specialize in more luxurious steering wheels, for example you won’t find straight racing wheels on my site, they’re some very nice ones out there but they don’t fit with whatI do. I'm offering wheels that are not only sporty and comfortable but that also look amazing and right at home in a car that you want to keep as close to stock as possible. I don’t want my wheels to stick out like a sore thumb inside your car, I want them to complement and already nice interior and look like they could have came with the car from the factory. If you’re looking to turn your car into a race car, then perhaps I'm not the site for you. But if you’re looking for a wheel that has more leather and rich materials than average and is just plain awesome to look at, then you came to the right place.

Another one of my criteria is that I sell wheels from manufacturers I know stand for quality, I don’t sell certain domestic wheels for example as I know their quality to be substandard, high end steering wheels don’t come with cheap vinyl for leather. I won’t even talk about Chinese knock-off as they are, put simply, pityful.

Will this wheel fit my car?

There are two types of wheel, one with a built-in hub, one without. With the later, you just purchase a steering hub to fit your car and you’re done. I’ll always mention in the description if a steering wheel is car specific or not. Some steering wheels were offered from the factory on specific cars but as they came with a detachable mounting hub, you could use them with any other car you wish.

This wheel doesn’t come with a slip ring, what does that mean?

The slip ring is the piece (usually black plastic) that’s screwed on the back of the steering wheel, inside the hub. It allows to connect the horn and airbag from the steering wheel to the rest of the car through the steering column. Some slip rings have a tab sticking out that can break during shipping if precautions are not taken. I had to remove the slip ring on some of my wheels as it was broken or they didn’t come with one. This does not present any problems, if our wheel doesn’t come with the ring (which will be indicated in the description), all you have to do is use the one out of your old steering wheel (very easy procedure, it’s held in place by a couple crews).

Does the airbag come with the steering wheel?

The steering wheels are sold as pictured, with everything on the picture (and sometimes more, as mentioned in the description). If it's an airbag wheel and the airbag is on the picture, then yes, the steering wheel comes with the airbag (un-deployed of course).

Will this airbag wheel work in my car?

For airbag wheels, I’ll indicate what cars they will fit, meaning that the airbag is the same type as the one that’s in your vehicle right now, therefore your new steering wheel/airbag combination will be compatible with your car. Newer cars (usually mid-1999 and newer) have what’s called a two stage airbag while older cars have single stage airbags, switching one type for the other will not add any benefits if your car didn’t come equipped as such from the factory, it would require several modifications to work safely and is in other words NOT recommended.

Is the airbag that comes with this wheel in good working order?

I cannot guaranty the prefect working order of the airbags that comes with some of my steering wheels. I can however assure you that those airbags have never been deployed. There is no way to test that an airbag is in proper working order without destroying it. I recommend a professional installation of any airbag steering wheel onto your car, I cannot be held responsible for any incidents or failure of the airbag to deploy in case of an accident. It’s like buying a used car, you can check to make sure the airbag has not been tempered with nor deployed but nobody can guaranty you (except the manufacturer maybe..) that it will work as intended in an accident.

Will this wheel mount on my car?

I try to provide as accurate of a list as possible of the car models my wheels will fit, however this list is to be considered as a help, not a guaranty. Manufacturers often make changes during a model’s run. For example the slip ring may not be entirely the same throughout all the model years or, for the same year and model, some cars came without airbags, some did and the steering wheel for these cars may not be interchangeable. I strongely recommend you further verify that the steering wheel you are interested in will indeed fit your vehicle.
