Grand Harmonicon / Glass Harp
circa 1830, Baltimore, MD

Description
Beautifully designed and well maintained 1830's glass and mahogany Grand Harmonicon, also known as a Glass Harp.  Wheeled (4 casters) and locked case (lock functions, key included) has a few cracks and some slight imperfections, but none take away the beauty of this musical invention that some say began with Ben Franklin and a trip abroad.  It has 21 of the 24 original mouth-blown, leaded glasses all marked with the appropriate note.  One glass has significant flaws.  Also included with this glorious instrument is a restored/rebound "Preceptor for the Grand Harmonicon, or Musical Glasses" book by Francis H. Smith, Baltimore, 1831.
