Asleep Three dreamy novellas... This novella contains three novelettes about love. The author's tender vocabulary and fluid syntax make reading these stories very enjoyable. She writes on a topic which is universal and relatable to almost anyone. In traditional Japanese style--that of personifying spirits and ghosts--the author uses character's dreams as a way of eerily foreshadowing future events, but in a subtle manner. Although she continues this tradition of Japanese culture in her work she also incorporates modernity in her works; such as through her descriptions of female characters and fantastical imagery. Sleep in this novella is used as a methaphor through which its characters indulge in order to avoid the reality of life's inevitable problems.
