Hi,I have up for auction today an ERTL Elite American Muscle - 1970 Plymouth Superbird. 1:18 scale diecast collectible model car. This 1970 Plymouth is a 12"Lx 4.25"Wx 3.25"H die cast metal car with Rallye wheels (code W21), openable hood, doors and trunk, steerable front wheels, and detailed interior & chassis. Limited edition 1 of 1254 pcs. This Plymouth Superbird is manufactured by RC2 Brands. Individually packed in a window box. Box size: 13.75"Lx 6.25"Wx 5.75"H. 39492 in PLUM CRAZY (PURPLE) color with Black vinyl roof.

 

Based on the Plymouth Road Runner, the Superbird was designed to fly on the high banks of super speedways. With its sloping nose, concealed headlights, and high wing stabilizer the car had a coefficient of drag low enough to soar at unheard-of speeds. The street version, available on in '70, rolled with a standard, 375-horsepower 440 cid. powerplant, or the chance to take wing with a 390-horsepower, 440 cid. "six pack" with three two-barrel carbs, or the famed 425-horsepower, 426 cid. "Street Hemi" engine.

 

All left the factory with two things in common - a black vinyl roof, needed to cover the seams left behind when the top was modified to fit a flush-mounted rear window - and a shape that still turns heads to this day.This model is an adult collectible only and is not a childs toy.It is in mint condition in box and only slid out of box for close up photos.The box and plastic window are a little scuffed up from going back and forth to the toy shows,but the model is untouched.This model is not suitable for children under 14 years of age due to the choking hazard of small parts.This model would be a great addition to your real car that you take to the car shows or for future generations.Thanks for looking & Have a Great eBay day!

I might add that some of the Ertl models got damp/wet on the bottom of the boxes,because there were a few times when I went to the outdoor shows that the rain blew up underneath my canopy and got the table wet and so in turn got the bottom of the boxes wet and made the cardboard box separate or feel fluffy underneath them.But the models themselves are untouched.
