BASIC BRAINY BLOCKS - GEOMETRIC PUZZLES LOGIC and Visuospatial MATH Game (TANGRAM)
Create pictures and complete puzzles using 16 geometric, plastic shapes and 18 working cards!
Aim of the game:
To create two-dimensional pictures by placing the plastic geometric
shapes on the work cards, according to various levels of difficulty.
Contents:
- 18 work cards of various levels of difficulty (22.5 cm x 16 cm, 8.8" x 6.3")
- 16 plastic pieces in 4 geometric shapes (square, circle, triangle and parallelogram) and 4 colors (red, blue, green and yellow)
- detailed instructions
Educational Aims:
- To learn to sort and match geometric shapes according to shape or color.
- To develop visual differentiation - discerning details.
- To develop spatial perception - the location of a geometric shape within a two-dimensional space.
- To develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- To develop cognitive perception - knowledge of how many
geometric shapes make up a whole picture, the need for organization and
order in the process of creating a picture, including recognition and
understanding of a "code" (a number inside the picture of a shape,
denoting how many pieces of that shape are needed).
Things to note:
It is important to look at the geometric shapes with the children and
teach them to sort the shapes according to 2 factors - shape and color.
The sorting and matching activitiy can be done on any surface, according
to the table below (The Shapes Glossary). Explain to the child that
every geometric shape in the box has two relevant traits - color and
shape. For instance, take a green triangle. This geometric shape belongs
to two groups - the green group and the triangle group.
