This stein was made in 1994 to honor the centennial of Norman Rockwell's birth. The item is in new condition, no chips nor cracks. Very rare stein to get.
Made in Germany by Gerz, this 12 1/4" lidded white porcelain stein features 3 views of Norman Rockwell's famous painting, "Triple Self-Portrait." Rockwell's Triple Self Portrait appeared on Feb. 11,1960 on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. The original oil painting hangs in the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge, Mass
The first is the full color depiction on the body.
The second is a sculptured pewter lid with a mirror like inset.
The third view can only be seen by holding the base up to the light and looking through the stein.
Called a lithopane type stein. Individually numbered on a metal tag that hangs from the handle. This stein is numbered 2891. Gift boxed.
There is also a Rockwell Triple Self Portrait Stamp with the stein, so I'll include that, too.
