This foot is made for top loading bobbin 7 mm stitch width Janome & Janome made (elna & Kenmore) Sewing Machines. Do not use this foot if your sewing machine is a front loading bobbin, 5 mm stitch width or a 7 mm machine not made by Janome.
Difference in 7 mm Feet: There are 2 ways sewing machines added the 2 mm when sewing machines went from 5 mm to 7 mm machines. Janome kept the left needle position the same and added the 2 mm to the right. This changed the center needle position from 2.5 to 3.5 on 7 mm machines. Brother and others kept the center needle position the same as on the 5 mm machines and added 1mm each way. This is why Janome and Janome made 7 mm machine should only buy feet made for Janome 7 mm machines and also should not get feet made for 5 mm sewing machines. Other brands, not made by Janome should not buy feet made for Janome 7 mm machines. There is a 1mm difference between the 2 ways of adding the 2mm, the needle hole opening is different by 1mm, so if you get a foot that is going to be used with stitch width and you get a foot not made for your 7 mm machine, you can not use the stitch width past 6 mm. Past 6 mm, the needle will hit the foot. Also the center marking on the foot will be off by 1 mm. If you are not sure which type of 7 mm machine you have look at your zigzag foot, A Brother style 7 mm foot, the center making on the foot will be at the center of the bar (where the foot attaches to the shank). also the needle hole opening will be centered with the 6 mm wide bar. A Janome 7 mm foot, the center making will be 1 mm to the right of the center of the 6 mm wide bar and the needle hole open will be longer to the right, not centered with the bar.
