MALCOLM STARR

1960's Hostess outfit
This is wonderful! classic silk hostess outfit trimmed in gorgeous border made of seed, bugle beads, rhinestones and translucent sequins done in tones of gun metal and silver. The main fabric is a patterned creme silk. There are a few loose beads that need to be tightened but I see none missing. There are no pulls and no stains other than a very small lipstick stain on the interior the collar not visible from the front when worn. The top and the pant are entirely lined in silk. Malcolm Starr's biography follows and the lable dates this to be an early 60's piece.
Starr, Malcolm
Malcolm Starr made a popular line of evening dresses from the early 1960s through the 1970s. A Malcolm Starr dress was commonly a sculptural and simple shift dress which was elaborately beaded and sequined. The company also made day attire, in the form of dress and coat or jacket sets. By the end of the 1970s, they were also making separates.
