Black Sunflower seeds are full of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Selenium. When fed in small amounts (1/2 o a cup) they contribute to a lovely glossy coat, when fed at 2-4 cups they can assist with weight gain. Many owners prefer to feed sunflower seeds, as opposed to oil, as they contain so many other nutrients. Cracking or grinding seeds/grains can increase the digestibility by up to 5-10%.

How much to feed each day?

½ cup to 1 cup per day for a glossy coat

 2 – 4 cups per day to assist in weight gain

 

 As with all new feeds, introduce gradually over one week.

Mix directly into damp feed.

 

NOTE: Sunflower flower meal/seeds are not recommended to be fed to horses with bad joints or arthritis as

they can aggravate these issues.
