This familiar cast iron miner's light, more commonly found with a circular font (pictured above), supported by a heavy trunnion mount attached to a long hooked rob by means of a swivel joint, is embellished with a brass rooster. This wonderful Specialty Lamp is of French Origin and typically used whale oil for fuel. This lamp measures 7 1/2 inches in height from base to the top of the trunnion mount and 4 1/2 inches wide. The iron hook measures 20 1/2 inches from the top of the hook to the connection at the trunnion. This lamp is cast iron and brass. This lamp can be referenced in Early Lighting, A Pictoral Guide, The Rush Light Club, 1972, pg. 102 fig. 11-2.
