Up for bidding is this charming G. S. Zell Baden Plate. This German-Dutch type tin-glazed earthenware has typical scenes set against a lush green background with windmills on the distant horizon on either a cream or ivory colored body. There is usually a garbed girl (long dresses with long white aprons and low-land bonnet head-wear), she is usually teased or admired/flirted with by a little boy attired in pantaloon type trousers and short rust-colored jackets, all are wearing the traditional wooden clogs. This beautiful piece depicts a father smoking while talking to a young boy. This plate does have a small chip on the rim but would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
This plate measures 6 5/8 inches in diameter.
