about us

My name is Steven Covey, not to be confused, in any way, with Stephen Covey, the author. My wife’s name is Terri. We are “empty nesters”. Our children have moved out and moved on to bigger and better things, mainly making Terri a grandma and me a grandpa.

We homeschooled both of our children and successfully got them to College. Travis and Memory will be vastly more successful in their lives than we could ever hope to be. To say the least, we are very proud of both of them. They are each well on their way to having great lives. We don’t have any children at home anymore, except grandkids once in a while; we are the proud owners of three dogs. We have one big Blue Heeler/ Cocker Spaniel mix and two Yorkshire Terriers. The Cocker's name “Charley”. He belonged to our daughter, however he still resides here with us and yes Memory, and he still misses you! Our other two dogs are Polly and Jack. Both dogs belong to Terri, but Polly tends to stick close to me, when I’m home, and Jack tends to shadow Terri. Jack, we acquired from a Humane Society in Texas and he has only one eye and we don’t know why. We renamed him Jack. He responded better to Jack, than his shelter name, Scooter. Then there is Polly. She thinks she is a Rottweiler. Well that is our family it is much simpler now. I’m currently in my early fifties and Terri will let you know that she is not.

After serving twenty years in the United States Marine Corps, I retired at the rank of MSgt in 1993. Then pursued my Bachelors Degree at the local University. Backwards, yes I know and I do not recommend it. My son did it right, he earned his Bachelors Degree, and went on to earn his Law Degree, then went into the United States Marine Corps, as an Officer. Thankfully both of our children listened to us and learned to work smarter, and not repeat our mistakes. But what is life, if you can’t learn from mistakes, whether they are your own or someone else’s. I have made my share of them.

Then there is Terri. She has had the toughest job of all, the Marine’s wife. She is also a Florist and she is the reason that our children's homeschooling worked, as well as it did. Now that we are retired from the military and building a different life for ourselves, it has turned out to be tough road. I have worked for the government, as a contractor providing Telecommunication and IT support. This websites that Terri and I have begun is a joint effort, and seem to be taking on lives all of their own. We decided to build the sites based on topics that we were experienced in, knew something about, or just enjoyed doing. For example, I love to fish; therefore I have a Bass fishing website. Why not? It is quite fun putting things you enjoy together. In this case fishing and an informative website. For some of the same reasons, Terri oversees our Home School website along with the Floral Design website. I, also, have a Wood and Upholstery website. Because I ran our families Wood and Upholstery Shop for the last six years of the twenty plus years that the business was open. I loved working with wood, but mostly I enjoyed the time that I was able to spend, working with my Dad. I became the business owner, with my Dad as the local expert. This worked well during the time after my military retirement and during the time I attended college. Even though the shop is no longer open and my Dad is officially retired, I wanted to share my knowledge in this Wood and Upholstery in this website.

Though we are not experts in all of these fields, we feel that we have enough knowledge and information to share with our visitors. We may add to our list of websites, as we go on. We are considering other websites, which will contain other subject matter in which we have first hand experience, as well. Who knows where we may go with our websites, or our new internet business.

Our business name is Covey & Company, with our Homepage called, whitetigerorchid.com. I coined the name White Tiger Orchid, which is my description of Terri, as a metaphor. The meaning I will keep private, but it goes with saying that she is reason that this business is what it is. On that note, we currently have two stores, one of which is a Gift Card Redemption Website and the other is simply Our Store. We offer a wide range of products from our Gift Card site and a mixed bag of selected items in Our Store site. We have included within these sites, affiliates that relate to the topics of the site. These affiliates are chosen from some that we have personally used, or that we have researched ourselves. We want to offer our visitors something of value in each category of services that we offer. Should you run across any content, which you have questions about, or information, which you feel would be beneficial, please do not hesitate to share that with us.

This online business is new to us and we don’t claim to be experts in all areas. We just hope to provide information, from which our visitors may find some value, and gain new insight or knowledge. This effort has been a learning experience for us; therefore, should you have expertise in this area, have suggestions, or advice, we would welcome your comments. We have a comment section within each of the sites that we have offered.

In any case, thank you for taking the time to visit our website, and I hope you found whatever it was you were looking for, that brought you to this site. As our motto goes, “What Would Jesus Do? (WWJD?), which is the backbone principle that guides us in this effort. Truthfully, as a retired Marine it does not come naturally for me, and requires great effort on my part to stay this path. Luckily, I have Terri that irons out my winkles and she is the inspiration that keeps me going.

I could go on and on about our crazy lives and maybe some day even write a book. We want to thank you for taking the time to get acquainted with our website. If you would like to learn more, or would like to simply introduce yourself, we encourage you to do so in one of our comment sections within our websites.

Thank you,

Steve and Terri Covey
