Annatto or achiote seed is brick-red with a slightly bitter, earthy flavor and imparts a rich yellowish-orange color in Caribbean, Latin American and Filipino cuisines. It has been dubbed the "poor man's saffron" as the color is similar to the more expensive seasoning. Available whole or ground, the small triangular shaped seeds are used as both a spice and as a natural coloring in butter, rice, smoked fish and cheeses.

For herbal uses for this or any herb we recommend doing an Internet search using a search engine. eBay restricts what we can put in a description or they will label it as a "drug" or "narcotic" which none of the herbs we sell are such. You can always contact us for usuages for this or any other herb we sell and we will reply with the knowledge our research has educated us with.

We combine shipping charges on teas, spices and herbs. First ounce ships for $5.70 (includes insurance) and each additional ounce is only $.50 more.
