Ceylon tea is famous the world over for its unique taste and exquistie quality. For over a century Ceylon tea has been appreciated for its rich aroma and full-bodied falor. This flavor is the essence of Stassen tea. It will delight the taste buds of even the most particular connoisseur. Stassen Ceylon tea is grown and carefully nurtured in our own lush green gardens in the highlands of Sri Lanka. Stassen tea is hand-picked by experienced tea pluckers, who are trained to choose only the tenderest leaves and buds thus guaranteeing the quality and freshness of Stassen tea. Stassen tea is distinguished by its distinctive and superbly satisfying flavor. These same qualities are reflected in Stassens range of herbala dn flavored teas.

A little Tea Information: All tea comes from the "Camellia sinensis", an evergreen shrub that may grow up to 60 feet in the wild. When cultivated for harvest the tea bushes are kept to a height of about three feet. There are over 3000 varieties of tea each with its own specific characteristics. The naming and growing of teas has many similarities to wine. Just as Bordeaux wine is named after the Bordeaux region in France, Assam is named after the Assam region in India, and Keemun is named after the Keemun region of China. Like wine, tea comes from one bush, and where the tea is grown, the climate, soil conditions, and how the tea is processed, determines the flavor characteristics of the tea.

Tea is harvested after each flush - the sprouting of the top two leaves and bud. The top two leaves and bud are hand plucked and then processed into any of the four types of tea, which are Black, Green, Oolong, and White.

Black tea is withered, fully oxidized and dried. Black tea yields a hearty, amber-colored brew. Some of the popular black teas include English Breakfast, and Darjeeling.

Green tea skips the oxidizing step. It is simply withered and then dried. It has a more delicate taste and is pale green / golden in color.

Oolong tea, popular in China, is withered, partially oxidized, and dried. Oolong is a cross between black and green tea in color and taste.

White tea is the least processed. A very rare tea from China, White tea is not oxidized or rolled, but simply withered and dried by steaming.

Tea is not to be confused with "herbal teas".  Herbal Teas are packaged like tea, infused like tea, and enjoyed like tea, however the herbs do not come from the camellia sinensis bush and therefore are not teas. Herbal teasane are made of grasses like lemongrass, barks like cinnamon, fruits like orange peel, flowers like chamomile and hibiscus, and many other botanicals.

We combine shipping charges on teas, spices and herbs. First ounce ships for $3.95 and each additional ounce is only $.50 more. This offer pertains only to our teas, spices and herbs sold by the ounce. If you purchase $50 in tea, spices, and herbs combined then shipping is free! We're sorry, but we cannot offer free International shipping at this time. We do offer combined shipping in a flat rate Priority Mail envelope for International Buyers, but all tea bags/sachets must be removed from the boxes or tins and therefore these boxes and tins cannot be shipped flat rate along with teabags/sachets. We will do what we can to help save you money on shipping!

If purchasing teas, herbs and spices sold in weights or sizes other than by the ounce, we STILL combine shipping for you! For instance, if you buy three boxes of teas then shipping starts with the highest shipping price plus an additional $1 per box or $2 per tin, etc. This is just an example, but if you email to let me know what you're interested in I'll quote you a combined shipping price.

If you're looking for a particular herb, spice or tea, and you do not see it in our store, let us know and we'll let you know if we have it or when we will have it.
