This is a Magnificent, Rare, Highly Polished Inuit Igloo Sculpture.  Made entirely by hand, by Master Carver, Ohito Ashoona of Cape Dorset.This sculpture is carved out of Serpentine Stone. It measures in inches (7 X 6 X 3 .5) It is in good condition and has no chips or scratches. Inuit Art is deeply embedded in a culture which has survived thousands of years in a cruel and harsh Arctic environment.This artist spent many years at an outpost camp near Cape Dorset, where he had a chance to learn the skill of igloo building. In this carving, he has portrayed a father building a family shelter.
