Up for purchase is a cast iron WWI tank coin bank. It was manufactured around 1918 with the inscription "Tank Bank U.S.A. 1918" cast into each side. There are no manufacturer's marks on it. The bank was cast in two halves, and joined together by a bolt on one side (there are two slotted bolt heads seen on each side, but three of them are cast into the metal and not real). It has the original gold paint on it and shows no evidence of ever being repainted. The bank is 5.75-inches long, 3-inches wide (at widest points), and stands just over 3-inches in height. This bank weighs 21.4 ounces. This bank is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, dents, chips, or other damage to the metal surfaces. I also find no rust or corrosion on the metal. However, there are original imperfections in the casting, mainly in the groves on the tracks (see rear view photo). The only wear on this bank is to the paint, mainly on the top of the tank turret and bottom-side tracks. This amount of paint wear is typical on banks this old and speaks to their antiquity. Consequently, this is a choice collector's coin bank! See my Store for more collectible coin banks.Winners have the right to request from me other forms of payment.
