This book has been deemed a "classic of American Indian literature."Up for purchase is the ultra-rare First Edition of Coyote Stories by Mourning Dove. The book was published in 1933 by The Caxton Printers. It measures 5.5 x 7.75-inches in size and contains 228 pages. Long acclaimed to be one of the best collections of American Indian stories. Mourning Dove was a member of the Okanagan culture, one of the southern Interior Salish tribes of the Northwest Coast. She was born in a canoe on the Kootenai River, near Bonner's Ferry (ID), in 1888. See photos for contents. This book is in very good condition. It has clean covers with flaking of the paint on the front so that "Coyote Stories" is now hard to see, but can be seen close up because the letters are raised on the cover--book has a simulated leather texture, but painted areas are flat. There is light edge/corner rubbing with the bottom front corner just beginning to expose, but no exposure to the other corners or fraying to the spine ends. Corners have not been bumped. The interior of this book is in mint condition showing no wear or damage. Former owner's name on the back of the front cover, otherwise clean throughout with no other markings or soiling. No cracks to interior hinges. Binding remains tight and square. An exceptionally nice copy for its age! Buyer's have the right to request from me other forms of payment. Shipping and handling is $3.50 via USPS media rate mail. Books usually ship out within one day of receipt of payment. Note to foreign buyers: The posted shipping is for U.S. only shipments.
