You are bidding on a hardback copy of Memoirs of Robert E. Lee: His Military and Personal History by A. L. Long. It also contains a section entitled "Incidents Relating to His Private Life Subsequent to the War" edited with the assistance of Marcus J. Wright. The book was published in 1886 by J. M Stoddart & Company, and this is a First Edition copy. The book measures 6.5 x 9.75-inches in size and contains a whooping 707 pages. Illustrated with four full-page plates covered with tissue guards, 1 large fold-out map, two small fold-out maps, and five full-page maps. See photos for sample of contents. This book is in good+ to very good condition. It has clean covers with surface flecking, edge rubbing, and exposure to the bottom front corner, but no bumps to corners. Clean interior with no markings or soiling. All plates and maps are present, especially the large fold-out map facing page 103 that is often missing. One plate tissue guard is missing and one tissue guard has tears repaired with archival tape. No significant damage to pages other than a bit of age darkening (a 1/4 bottom edge tear to frontispeice). The page edges along the fore-edge have some age-spotting and numerous very tiny pin-point round dents (made by a tiny bug?). Most importantly, this copy has been professionally rebound with new endpapers such that the binding of this very large book remains tight and square, also rarely seen in these First Edition copies. A very decent copy! Buyer's have the right to request from me other forms of payment. Shipping and handling is free. Books usually ship out within one day of receipt of payment. Note to foreign buyers: Free shipping is for U.S. only shipments. Foreign shipments at extra S&H--see payment details. Import duties, taxes and any other charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. Please check with your country's custom office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. On Feb-27-11 at 20:06:55 PST, seller added the following information:
