You are bidding on the ultra-rare, first edition of Recovering Ancient Magic by Max Freedom Long. It was published in 1936 by Rider & Company of London. The book measures 5.5 x 8.5-inches in size and contains 288 pages. An extensive coverage of Hawaiian kahuna magic accompanied by many case examples. However, the most rare aspect of this book is that it has the declaration by a leading anthropologist that kahunas do have real powers. Extremely rare in that most of the copies went up in a warehouse fire before only a few copies were distributed. Consequently, these first edition hardbacks rarely come up for sale. This book is in good condition. The covers are lightly soiled with a small spit in the cloth on the bottom rear corner. Corners are lightly rounded and exposure is just starting. Clean interior with no markings. A bit of sticker residue in rear of book from some small bookstore (?) stickers. Damage to the pages is limited to several corner creases. Front blank end page is missing. No cracks to interior hinges. Binding remains square and a bit shakey. Overall, a nice copy.
