Up for purchase is a hardback copy of The Literature of Music by James E. Matthew. Republished in 2009, this copy is a scarce first edition that was published in 1896 by Elliot Stock of London. The book measures 4.5 x 7-inches in size and contains 281 pages including an index. See photos for contents. Unlike the books in this store category, this book is in good condition given its age. It has clean, beveled-edge covers with exposure just starting on the corners and a 1/4-inch tear to the top of the spine. Former owner's name is marked out on the front blank page, otherwise no other markings in the book. Pages have lightly browned and are somewhat brittle. There is a light crease to the top corner of most pages and pages 129, 257 & 259 each have a 1/4-inch wide by 1.5-inch chip to the top corner (not affecting text). No cracks to interior hinges. Binding remains tight and square. Overall a nice copy. Buyer's have the right to request from me other forms of payment. Shipping and handling is $3.50 via USPS media rate mail. Books usually ship out within one day of receipt of payment. Note to foreign buyers: The posted shipping is for U.S. only shipments. Foreign shipments at extra S&H--see payment details. Import duties, taxes and any other charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. Please check with your country's custom office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. On Sep-04-10 at 20:05:06 PDT, seller added the following information:
