Up for purchase is a First Edition copy of Zuni Breadstuff by Frank Hamilton Cushing. It was published in 1920 by The Museum of the American Indian and issued as Volume VIII in their Indian Notes & Monographs series. The book measures 4.5 x 6.6-inches in size and contains a whopping 673 pages (1.5-inches thick). Don't let the title fool you, this book does not limit its focus on the Zuni use of corn. The text goes into great detail about other aspects of Zuni life. Consequently, this monograph is often cited as the largest one ever written around a single subject. Most important, the accounts are very accurate given that Cushing lived among the Zuni for many years and was even adopted into one of their secret societies. Today the First Edition copies are extremely rare and usually sell for over $200. This book is in very good condition. It is an ex-library copy with minimal marking: label removed from spine (seen in photos); card pocket removed from back of front cover; date due slip removed from front end page; and small blind stamp on title page (seen in photo). Otherwise, clean throughout with no other markings or soiling. Covers are in excellent condition showing no wear or damage. Pages are in mint condition. No cracks to interior hinges. Binding remains tight and square. An exceptionally nice copy! Buyer's have the right to request from me other forms of payment. Winning bidder to pay $3.50 in USPS media rate shipping and handling. Books usually ship out within one day of receipt of payment. Note to foreign buyers: Free shipping is for U.S. only shipments. Foreign shipments at extra S&H--see payment details.
