Up for purchase is a set of solid bronze bookends depicting a 16th-17th Century galleon. They were manufactured by the A. J. Detlaff Company of Detroit, MI. He began the A. J. Detlaff Manufacturing Company in the early part of the last century, and incorporated in 1913 as the A. J. Detlaff Company. So these bookends are circa the 1920's if not earlier. Typical of the early 20th century bookends, these have fine detail in the casting. The base measures 5 x 2.25-inches in size and it stands just under 9-inches in height. They are flat on the back and the bottom. One bookend weighs 61.8 ounces and the other one weighs 57.1 ounces. See photos for more details. These bookends show no cracks, dents, missing pieces or other such damage to the metal. There are a few spots on the thin edges that have a bit of overhang from the casting that were never removed. There is also no damage to the paint other than a scant bit of wear around the base edges. Essentially they are in mint condition except for one minor blemish--the front 1-inch tip of one ship is bent circa 1/4-inch forward, but is barely noticeable. An exceptionally nice set! See my Store for many more antique bookends in nice condition!. Buyer's have the right to request from me other forms of payment. Winning bidder to pay $15.00 in USPS Priority shipping and handling. Bookends usually ship out within three days of receipt of payment. Note to foreign buyers: The posted shipping is for U.S. only shipments. Foreign shipments at extra S&H--see payment details. Import duties, taxes and any other charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges.
