This is an extremely rare set of antique bookends and collectors have recorded only one sale in the last five years!

You are bidding on a set of large hollow bronze bookends that have no manufacturer's mark on them. There is a marking on the rear of the base, but I cannot make it out. (A collector notified me that he had a slight variation of this set that was marked "Nellye Partridge Copyrighted 1911.") This set was issued circa 1911 with a gray felt pad on the bottom and painted black. The base is 5.25-inches square and the height is 7.25-inches. Each bookend weighs 4.5 pounds for a total of 9 pounds. See photos for details.

These antique bookends are in very good condition. Surface wear is limited to several spots where the paint has been rubbed and one spot along the right ear where the paint has chipped off. There are no dings, dents, etc. One bookend has edge wear to the felt pad and on the other one the pad is nearly worn off. A very nice, very rare set!
