You are bidding on a large, vase-shaped African basket that has a square bottom and rounded top. The basket is 18-inches in height, the diameter at the top is 5.5-inches, the widest diameter at the center is 7-inches, and the bottom is 4-inches square. There is a zig-zag pattern along the side of the basket at one point only (seen in photos). The rim has also been nicely decorated. The basket has two small holes on the rim (seen in main photo with ruler) that I assume a carrying cord went through. I do not know which culture this basket belongs to, but I was told by one African basket collector that is was probably from East Africa. (If you recognize this basket and let me know its origin, I'll post it.)

Most of the wear on this basket is to the four bottom corners. There are about a half-dozen areas on the sides where a few strands are missing (shown in photos) and a couple spots on the rim (shown in photos). The photo of the interior shows little wear to the sides. Overall a nice basket.
