 A beautifully made in Japan Alvarez Yairi model DY-85 in lightly played condition.Guitar shows only minor wear overall with hardly any on the frets. No cracks or splits at all. The top has some minor dings but nothing serious and there is one on back on the right side(see all pics) Higher end model with Abalone inlays and trim.Chrome Grover tuners.Date stamped inside says that this guitar was made on Oct. 18, 1974 in Japan.Inside label is intact but torn on left side(see pic).Pictures say it all about this beauty.After looking this model up online it's quite possible this guitar was handmade by famed luthier K. Yairi himself. Guitar has new strings. Very similar to the Martin D45 this guitar sounds just as good or better with a warm balanced tone and amazing projection.I believe this model came with a bone nut and saddle. Top is solid Canadian spruce. Soft case is included. Nice low action (3/32" @ the 12th fret) with no issues.Comfortable "C" shaped neck. Nut width is 1 11/16". This one of the best guitars I've ever played. If you don't have the $4,000 to spend on the Martin but want the same superb craftsmanship and sound then here you go.The DY-85 is not an often seen model....one sold on Ebay for $1,100 in 2009! From what info I could find online  the back is made from either rosewood or burled mahogany and the sides jacaranda wood ?Also there is a truss rod which is accessed through the sound hole.
