Vintage Pre- war Gibson 1930's Acoustic Guitar Rare
Found in original case tone is outstanding !

    Price:  $1,275.00

    Description:

MODEL: Here is a very unusual and rare model Gibson L 50 flat top with a round sound hole and dreadnaught shape body with a bridge & tail piece set up like an archtop. It does have a flat back as well. Not sure but info I found on this model says it was only made for a short time maybe a year or two. First off this is not a museum piece so if you are looking for that look elsewhere however she is in remarkable condtion for being 80 years old and looks to have all it's original parts. The batch number on this guitar is stamped  443 on the inside of the neck block(see pic) which dates it to 1932 for those of you in the know. What I love about it is it has the very desirable "fire striped" pickguard that was only made in the 1930's and is in excellent condition with no cracks or lifting.

CONDITION: There are several cracks to the guitars top. Most noticable is what looks like an old  repair attempt on the upper left bout(see pic) where someone dropped some glue inside the crack. There are a few smaller cracks around the sound hole near where the fret board ends(see pics). All cracks appear to be quite stable. No cracks on back or on the sides.Inside is very clean. Braces appear to be all secure but I make no guarantees as it's 80 year old glue holding those suckers down.Frets are still in nice shape and show only light wear.It has the old Gibson script logo on the peg head. Original tuners work fine and I think the buttons are also original. It has a trapeze tail piece with a floating adjustable ebony bridge. I put on a new set of light gauge D'Addarios that I had and tuned her up. I was very surprised to hear how loudly the guitar projects.Tone is very nice and crisp.Action is good at just about 4/32" at the 12th fret with the bridge lowered all the way. Overall I would say the guitar is very solid and strudy. Both front and back binding is in great shape. The case is original to the guitar and is in decent shape for it's age. When I looked inside the little compartment I found several vintage picks and some finger picks. They look pretty old so I assume they are from the same era and they will be included in the sale.

    SPECS:

Here is some info I found online. I think it's pretty accurate.

    1932 L-50 introduction specs:
14.75" wide, 17 1/2" long, flat back (some with arched back), most with round sound hole (some with "f" holes), ebony bridge, short trapeze tailpiece, pickguard glued to top (even though the top is slightly arched), single bound top (back usually unbound but this one is bound on both sides), dot fingerboard inlays, pearl "Gibson" logo, dark mahogany sunburst finish. Body has a sort of dreadnaught body shape. Overall length is about 40". Comfortable "V" shaped neck.

I've seen alot of old Gibson's but not one just like this. It's worthy of a full restoration if you wish. I would be almost tempted to take it to a very good luthier to replace the trapeze tailpiece and bridge with a standard rosewood bridge then it would look like a smaller vintage J-45. But maybe it's best to keep it as it was made all those years ago as a reminder of Gibson's past history. Use the buy it now and recieve free shipping in the US lower 48. Any offer accepted will pay normal shipping charges for UPS ground. This guitar because of it's age and condition is sold as is. There will be no credits or refunds for repairs. I have explained everything up front and the pics say it all. THIS IS AN ANTIQUE!! If you are expecting a pristine guitar then look elsewhere.Buyer beware. I can't be any clearer on the condition and I may sound like a broken record but I have had recent encounters with unrealistic buyers who have nothing better to do then to test the Ebay system at my exspense.Thanks.
